Our Christmas camping of 2011 was at Taranaki, about 6 hours from Auckland. The weather wasn't very nice those days and it was very wet so we decided last minute to go. It was the best thing to do. We got wonderful days and rain only at the very last day. We have improved our gears (but still far away of being well equipped as the New Zealanders (I hope we'll never be like them... It's just too much!!), but yeah we got a small stove that was great and served us just perfectly! Augusto cooked some basic meals and froze them so we could have food for all of the days. New other very useful things came along and so we had a more comfortable camping at this time. The campsite was right at the beach and the infra-structure was perfect for families with little kids, like us. They have a nice playground with a cool swimming pool and everything else for the kitchen and laundry, well we tried to not get too much into this and stay more in a "wild" camping stile..

tempo não estava muito bom naqueles dias e por isso decidimos ir de última
hora. Foi a melhor coisa que fizemos. Tivemos 5 dias maravilhosos e chuva apenas
no último dia. Dessa vez melhoramos um pouco mais nossos equipamentos de
camping (mas ainda longe de estar bem equipado como os neozelandeses e espero
que nunca sejamos como eles ... É demais!), mas agora temos um fogãozinho que
nos serviu perfeitamente! Augusto cozinhou umas refeições básicas e congelou
para que pudéssemos ter comida para todos os dias. Outras coisinhas novas
também foram muito úteis em nosso camping e por isso tivemos um acampamento
mais confortável. O camping era na praia e a infra-estrutura era perfeita para
famílias com crianças pequenas, como nós. Eles têm um parquinho maravilhoso com
uma piscininha para as crianças e tudo mais para a cozinha e lavandaria, apesar
que tentamos não usar muito e ficar mais num estilo "selvagem" ...

We have found that in most of camping sites here in NZ we can't have fire... Sooo sad! But we needed the smors (I don't know how to spell it!!) and warm marshmallows... thanks to our little stove!
Ja percebemos que nao se pode fazer fogueira em muitos camping aqui, mas precisavamos de nossos sanduichinhos americanos (biscoitos com marchmallow e chocolate), entao usamos o nosso fogaozinho novo!!
