Not so good sharing on his first day at Kindergarten!
Dividir minhas bolinhas nao!
Pelo menos nao na primeira hora!

Victor has been the hardest kid to get adjusted to our move to NZ. Since we left LA he has acted differently from time to time. In Brazil he was ok, but very quiet, maybe because of the language that he could understand but not speak. Even though he couldn't speak for awhile he had all attention and love from a lots of families, what was not the case when we came to NZ. Now he understands English but can not speak and have no family extension around. With so much changes he is been slow on get used to the new life. He is getting better but still have his moments (crying for nothing, screams in public locals, is unhappy easily and there is nothing to make him happy and can't be away from me).
He also has dropped off his pacifier and diapers, which is been pretty neat. One day he got one pacifier and said he wanted to "buy" a new car (we had have talked about it for awhile with him) so we did go to a store and he bought his "mad car", that's how he called it. Next day he got the last 2 pacifiers and said "today I want to buy 2 mad cars", so we did and from that day on he never asked for a pacifier again. It was easier than I thought.
There are sooo many choices to entertain the kids and I've tried to keep them busy as much as I can. There are playgroups where moms take their kids to a certain place (Salvation Army, Churches....) and just let them play with the toys that are available. There is also an option to join a Playcentre, that is like a school, subsidized by the government but it's run by the parents that have to go through courses (short educational informative talks) to be able to join it. All of them are free or partially free (when charged is around $2,00 or $4.00 per event and the playcentre costs $30,00 for 9 weeks). There is also what they call Kindergarten that is for kids at 3 and 4 years old (same as preschool in US) . That costs $4,00 per week and is a voluntary donation. That is the only place where you drop off your kid and come back 2 1/2 hours later.
Victor has started going to a Kinder this week and we are very excited. He'll have some hours a day (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays) without me and will be able to make some friends. This first week I stayed for the whole time and will see how it'll be next week. He played well but didn't like when couldn't find me around. We're hoping that it'll be a good choice!
In the other hands, Victor has enjoyed a ton his new house, his new bedroom, his new bed, his new playroom... He loves to play outside (when the sun is out we run out for joining it!) with his bikes. Since we got here he doesn't nap very often, so at 7pm at most he is dead in bed.
Being in a muddy grass hasn't been a problem to him and his rain boots are his best friends now.
He still speaks Portuguese and I am afraid that he'll loose it going to school....
Clara and Gabriel are for sure his buddies, they play well together and can't be away from each other. He fell sick when Clara started school and so the fighting with Gabriel started. I think now they are well adjusted to this situation.
Every day is a new day for Victor and I don't know what to expect for at the next day. He is a sweet boy on a very physical way to act. He is strong and doesn't know (yet) how to express verbally and so act with his body. His height confuses people about his age and so most of the time they don't understand his actions. He loves hugs and kisses and certainly loves to have mom around. He loves to go to the library and listen to stories, sing and dance on his shy way to be. I love to discover him every day and his feedback is always a surprise to us. We sure should be patient because all he needs is love. We love you Victor!

Ele tambem largou a chupeta e as fraldas.

Thanks for the great updates, Patty! It's nice to have you online again ~ we've missed hearing from you. It looks like everyone is doing well. I'm sure Victor will setlle into his new surroundings. It's a lot for a little guy to handle but you have such resiliant kids. Everyone looks beautiful and you do too! Miss you!

I'm so glad you are feeling a little more settled now. Moving is so hard on kids (Libby still begs to move back to California!), but they are so resilient. Your house looks amazing. I love the play room! Hopefully the weather will cooperate soon, too, so you will be able to enjoy your new place a little more!

I am so glad to get caught up on your family! Happy you have a beautiful new house! You are a good mom. And, yes, all little children (especially little boys) need is a whole lot of LOVE. And you do that. Your children are beautiful and so are you...inside and out.
Hugs!!
